Irving ISD signed the Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) as one of Signature Studies’ premier partners today at Irving High School.

The partnership between Irving ISD and AIM gives Irving ISD students an authentic learning space to prepare for a career in aviation- a high demand, high wage and high skill industry.

Through AIM, students are trained at one of their many institutes across the country and are prepared for a career in commercial, cargo, corporate and private aviation. AIM graduates are eligible to take the FAA exams to obtain their mechanic’s certificate in Airframe and Powerplant.

Dr. Andre Smith, chief of school leadership for Irving ISD, is extremely excited to take this partnership to the next level. “We are pleased to have AIM as a partner,” says Dr. Smith. “This partnership will help our students continue to work towards and achieve their dreams.”

Thanks to AIM, Irving High’s aviation students take classes every week on AIM’s campus, using the institution’s aviation equipment and state-of-the-art labs. Students who enroll in AIM after graduation will have a head start compared to other students having completed a quarter of the AIM maintenance curriculum. It’s a win-win for both AIM and Irving ISD.

“Aviation Institute of Maintenance is thrilled to advance our partnership with Irving ISD and to expose students to opportunities in the high demand career field of aviation maintenance,” says Chris Coley, Campus Executive Director for AIM. “We look forward to continuing our support of the Irving ISD family and promoting positive outcomes for our youth.”

More than 300 School of Aviation students are expected to benefit from the new partnership, with hopes of one day entering a lucrative and successful career in aviation maintenance.
