You would be hard pressed to find a more loyal advocate for Irving ISD than Terri Green. She is committed wholeheartedly to the education of her son, Chase Glover

Every morning before many of us have even turned off our alarm clock, Terri and Chase begin their hour-long drive to Houston Middle School. Although the drive to and from Irving to where they are living now is exhausting, Terri sees the drive as Chase’s future.

“I love Sam Houston. They really put a lot into their students and in the curriculum,” says Terri. “Chase is in honor roll, AP honor roll and every AP class. Chase is excelling amazingly at Houston.”

Over the summer, Terri and Chase uprooted their life from Irving to a city outside of Dallas. The new location is a perfect spot for them. Their house is within walking distance of a quaint lake and walking trail. They are minutes away from local restaurants and shops and can get to the interstate in less than a mile.

So it was not a surprise that in the midst of that move, Chase transferred from Houston Middle School to his new neighborhood school. It was an opportunity to meet people living in the same community.

It wasn’t long before Chase realized he was missing his home away from home, Houston Middle. He missed so much about the school- the friendships he had established since elementary school, the band he played in and the sports he competed in.

“When I went back to Sam Houston, it was so refreshing. It was just like going back home.”

Hearing Chase talk about “going back home” to Houston puts a big smile on Terri’s face. She knows the sacrifice she makes every day is well worth the cost.
